Her short film Sega played the International Competition at Clermont-Ferrand and won the Jury Award at BlackStar and the Golden Dhow at Zanzibar. She co-wrote Apple TV+'s Little America, a Humanitas nominee, and directed In Her Element for Queen Latifah's Queen Collective, which premiered on BET. As a producer and associate producer, four of her projects have played the Sundance Film Festival.
Idil is passionate about human rights, humanitarian issues, and global education. She is a contributor to the popular blog Everyday Africa and sits on the advisory board of Bronx Documentary Center's film program. Idil has also been featured in The Guardian, Astronaut Magazine, Glamour, Elle, Fusion.net, Splinter TV, Real America With Jorge Ramos, Nataal, Destination Iman and Instagram's blog and on television on Arise America and Hawaii News Now.
